Acting Head of Mission, Ghana Embassy Washington, DC praises Ghana talents at 2025 Grammys

The Acting Head of Mission (HOM) at the Embassy of Ghana in Washington D.C., Mr. Francis Gborglah, has praised the efforts of Ghanaian international musicians Rocky Dawuni and Jonathan McReynolds for their sterling achievements at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards this year held in Los Angeles, California in the United States.

 

Mr. Gborglah in a congratulatory phone conversation with Rocky Dawuni celebrated him by praising the four-time Grammy-nominee on his achievements and for distinguishing himself as a musician and positively selling Ghana as a brand ambassador of the country over the years. “I have always been a big fan of yours Rocky, you have always been a great Ghanaian reggae and Afrofusion sensation, and for the multiple Grammy nominations,” said the Acting HOM.

 

Rocky Dawuni’s song “Rise” was nominated for the Best Global Music Performance category, showcasing the growing influence of African artists on the global stage and Rocky’s persistent excellence.

 

Movin’ On” by Jonathan McReynolds and Mali Music won the Grammy Award for Best Gospel Performance and Song in 2021 at the 63rd Grammy Awards.

 

On Jonathan McReynolds, the American gospel singer, the Acting HOM said it was always refreshing to see young Ghanaian-Americans shine in their chosen fields of endeavors and it is always positive to know that someone with Ghanaian lineage won a Grammy Award. Mr. McReynolds was nominated for Gospel Performance with the song titled One Hallelujah – he won and it was his 2nd Grammy win. “I am proud of these exceptional musicians who have made Ghanaians at home and in the Diaspora very proud,” said Ag. HOM.

 

“The performance and achievements of these compatriots is a testament to the power of music to bring people together and celebrate their shared heritage,” concluded Mr. Gborglah.
