Fredericksburg, Virginia, celebrated its second annual Fredericksburg-Ghana Friendship Day on March 6, 2025, coinciding with Ghana’s Independence Day. The event took place from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Historic Shiloh Baptist Church (Old Site) and featured Ghanaian cultural exhibits, art, music, and cuisine, highlighting the contributions of Ghanaians to the community.

Representatives from both Fredericksburg and Ghana attended the celebration, emphasizing the strong ties between the city and Ghana. This relationship includes a Sister City partnership with Princes Town, Ghana, established in December 2006.

The inaugural Fredericksburg-Ghana Friendship Day was declared on March 6, 2024, by Mayor Kerry P. Devine, who presented a proclamation to Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Hajia Alima Mahama, during a ceremony at St. George’s Episcopal Church Fellowship Hall.
