Embassy of Ghana, USA, partners with Ghanaian organizations to celebrate 2021 Independence Day

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the Embassy of Ghana, USA, has partnered with various Ghanaian organizations to host virtual celebrations to commemorate Ghana’s 64th independence day.
While it is a common practice for the Embassy to hold a reception and join hands with Ghanaians in Washington D.C., as well as travel to different parts of the United States to celebrate independence day, this year’s activities are unique in its virtual component because of the Pandemic.
The sixth of March marks an important day in our nation’s history. It is a day that serves as a reminder for Ghanaians globally to reflect on our heritage, our history, our progress, and our strides toward a brighter future.
The world is also reminded of our courage particularly the role of our nation’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, in the fight for independence for our country and the continent at large.
It is against this backdrop that the Embassy calls on you to join us in celebration of this year’s independence day by participating in all or one of the outlined activities.
Event One
Thursday, March 4, 2021 – Virtual Round Table Discussion with Business Council for International Understanding
Event Two
Saturday March 6, 2021 – Virtual Thanksgiving Service by Council of Ghanaian Pastors and Churches
Event Three
March 5-7, 2021
Day 1 : (Friday March 5th at 4pm) – The Spotlight Show – Virtual Ghana Happy Hour & Talks With Ghana Embassy officials; the Acting Head of Mission, Mrs. Genevieve Apaloo, Mr. Kofi Tonto, Head of Information & Public Affairs, Mrs. Cynthia Djokoto, Head of Trade and Investment.
Day 2: (Saturday March 6th)– Blackstar DJs Worldwide – Virtual Ghana Music concert featuring artist performances, MCs and top Ghanaian DJs across the world
Day 3 : (Sunday Morning March 7th ) – Virtual Ghana Gospel Show featuring various top Ghanaian DJs worldwide
Day 3 Part II: (Sunday Afternoon March 7th ) – The popular Music For Your Quarantine Feet Virtual Show with DJ Fisho, featuring conversations with various Ghanaian Artists and DJs.
