COGPAC Breakfast Meeting with Ambassador Alima Mahama

The Council of Ghanaian Pastors and Churches (COGPAC-USA) held a Breakfast Meeting with Her Excellency Alima Mahama (Hajia) Ambassador of Ghana to the United States of America, and Management of the Embassy to update her on the progress and activities of COGPAC since its inauguration by the Ambassador on October 30th, 2021.

It was also to afford the group the opportunity to apprise her on the organization of the 65th Independence Anniversary Thanksgiving Service, schedule to be held on Sunday 6th March, 2022. They also discussed other matters of Diasporan interests.

Reporting on their activities, the General Secretary Rev. James Asiedu-Pani said the Council had put in place a comprehensive welfare management committee to see to the welfare of their members.

Their projected activities for 2022 would include visits to member churches, setting up a food bank, embarking on goodwill visits to sister organizations, and the pursuit of other humanitarian and community service activities as they arise. Alongside these activities, “we would also be engaged in organizing seminars and conferences,” said Rev. Asiedu-Pani who revealed, “COGPAC is looking to expand their programs to establish regional branches in other parts of the United States.”

Ambassador Alima Mahama in her address noted: “Your role in the organization of Thanksgiving Services as part of the celebration of Ghana’s Independence Anniversaries cannot be overemphasized, and I wish to commend you for your consistency in ensuring a successful ceremony every year. Additionally, I would like to applaud you for the facilitation of this Breakfast Meeting which has accorded my team and I the opportunity to learn of your activities and interact with you on issues pertaining to the development of our dear nation.”

She went on to express her hope “that this will mark the continuation of a sustained friendship between the Body of Christ and the Embassy of Ghana in the United States of America and that this friendship would in the coming years yield fruitful results much beyond our scripted objectives.”

COGPAC, then reported the loss of one of their members, Rev. Mrs. Jennifer Opoku Asare and a moment of silence was observed in her honor. Rev. Opoku Asare was an irreplaceable member of the Independence Day Thanksgiving Service Planning Committee.

Members of COGPAC who attended the Breakfast Meeting included Bishop Evans Glover (President), Rev. Gyebi Ababio (Vice President), Pastor Kwaku Ofori, Rev. Mrs.Vanessa Mensah-Adu, Bishop Mrs. Emily Buabasa, and Rt. Rev. Mark Asiedu Frempong, Rev. Dr. Pastor. Others present also included Rev. Eric Clarke, Pastor James Asiedu-Pani, Rev. Edith Gabriel Moon and Apostle M. Baah-Yeboah.
